Tour Information
Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa’s premier game reserves, home to four of the Big Five: Elephant, Lion, Leopard, and Rhino. Established as a national park in 1907, it spans 22,270 square kilometers and hosts 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species, and even one species of fish.
Etosha, meaning “Great White Place,” is dominated by a vast mineral pan that forms part of the Kalahari Basin, dating back around 1,000 million years. This pan covers about 25% of the park and was once a lake fed by the Kunene River. Today, it is a large, dusty depression that temporarily fills with water after heavy rains, attracting thousands of wading birds, including impressive flocks of flamingos. The perennial springs around the edges of the pan draw significant concentrations of wildlife and birds.
After breakfast, you'll travel east through the mining town of Tsumeb and the “Maize Triangle” to Rundu, your lodge for the night. On the way, we will stop in Grootfontein to visit a quaint museum offering unique insights into the cultural, historical, and agricultural history of Namibia. Rundu, located on the banks of the Okavango River in the Kavango region, is known for its skilled woodcarvers. This ancient craft, passed down through generations, remains a thriving industry toda
Following breakfast, you'll continue your journey along the Kavango River to the Popa Falls. After a scenic walk along the rapids and surrounding forest, we'll travel through the Caprivi Game Park, an area celebrated for its rich wildlife and abundant bird species. Named after German Chancellor Leo von Caprivi, who negotiated the land exchange with the United Kingdom in 1890, this region holds historical significance.
The Caprivi Strip played a strategic military role during the Rhodesian Bush War (1970–1979), the ANC operations against the South African government (1965–1994), and the Angolan Civil War. It served as a corridor for various armed forces. We'll visit a traditional village where you can experience the daily life of the local people and participate in morning game drives or game cruises.
After breakfast, you'll travel along the Caprivi Strip to Katima Mulilo, situated along the Zambezi River, forming a natural boundary with Zambia. You'll drive past stretches of huge Baobab trees, enter Botswana, and travel through the Chobe National Park, renowned for having the highest Elephant population on earth. Your tour concludes in Kasane.
