We depart west from Aus on the main road to Luderitz, bidding farewell to tar roads as we embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. En route, we may catch a glimpse of the famous desert horses. Our 4x4 journey takes us deeper into the Namib Desert, where we'll camp in the dunes under the expansive African sky.

On the third day, our trail leads north towards Bushman’s Paradise, with the dunes growing larger as we venture further into the desert. Bushman’s Paradise is a stunning blend of dunes and granite mountains, perfect for photography enthusiasts. The afternoon is at leisure, with opportunities for a scenic drive. We camp overnight at Bushman’s Paradise.

The dunes continue to grow progressively higher, testing and honing the driving skills acquired over the previous days. We head towards the sea, spending the afternoon and the next day fishing, relaxing, and swimming. Camping is on the beach, offering a serene coastal experience.

The dune belt opens up at Meob Bay. This stretch, between Meob Bay and Conception Bay, was once an active diamond mining area in the early 1900s. At Fishers Brunn, we'll resupply our washing water from a well created by German diamond prospectors. We visit the settlements of Holsatia, Charlottenfelder, and Grillenberger, camping in the area of Conception Bay for the night.

From Conception Bay, the trail leads north along the beach towards Sandwich Bay, with stops to explore the wrecks of the Shawnee. Passing 'Langewand,' where massive dunes meet the sea, we have a limited time to negotiate this stretch of beach. After Langewand, the trail re-enters the dunes, circling the salt pans near Sandwich Harbour. The dunes grow progressively larger, offering an ever-changing experience of ultimate dune driving. We navigate the 'Roller Coaster,' a series of massive slip faces that provide thrilling experiences and breathtaking views of Sandwich Harbour and its surrounding sandscapes. Our journey concludes with a final 50km stretch of beach driving, ending in Walvis Bay.
